My 10-year-old daughter saw an older lady at a pizza place talking to a teenage boy. She asked if she could buy the stuffed animal he had just won from a machine. The boy said, “No, it’s for my girl.” Then, my daughter asked me for a dollar to see if she could win something for the lady. She tried, and guess what? She won!
When she handed the little stuffed leopard to the lady, the woman almost started crying. She explained that her husband had just had a stroke and was in the hospital. She wanted the stuffed animal to cheer her sister up. The lady tried to give my daughter a dollar as a thank you, but my daughter said, “No, thank you! I just want a picture with you because you’re so beautiful.
Before we left, my kids asked if we could get a to-go pizza for one of the homeless people we often see nearby. We found a couple not too far away and talked with them for about 10 minutes, hearing their story. I had run out of my “blessing bags,” so all I had to give them was the pizza and $20. But honestly, what they gave us was so much more. We felt so thankful to be able to help them!
