Influencers on social media may come in all different shapes and sizes and some of them have really spoken out in the plus size field. Such is the case with Emily Jones, who is not only a plus-sized influencer, she also is a travel influencer as well.
Like many plus-sized influencers who enjoy traveling, Jones has a definite opinion on what airlines should do to accommodate those who may be larger in size. Jones understands this because she regularly travels between Malta and Galinsky or the United States.
It is true that the airline industry is not always friendly to those who are larger in size. They may allow larger-sized individuals on the flight, but they don’t always accommodate them with larger seats. In fact, many have experienced the embarrassing frustration of having to order a seatbelt extension.
Jones speaks out about this through her Instagram account, documenting the travels that she makes, and encourages people, regardless of their size to get out and explore the world.
She said: “I want to promote easy travel for people of all sizes and shapes – and make them feel they deserve to see the world just like other people.”
Jones has a list of things she would like to see changed in the airline industry for plus-sized individuals. This includes having seatbelt extensions available during the boarding process. From her experience, many people are afraid of asking for an extension, so having one available would make it easier.
She also feels that flight seats are uncomfortable for larger passengers. Having larger seating options available or additional cushioning and adjustable armrests would ensure that everyone on board could be comfortable for the journey.
It isn’t just the airlines that could use a change, Jones has also said that hotels should have larger towels and plus-size bathrooms available for their guests as well. These simple changes can make plus-size individuals feel welcomed and enjoy their stay.
There are challenges associated with being a plus-sized individual and traveling, and Jones acknowledges this. She also tries to stay positive, pointing out some of the more inclusive places that she visited and welcoming others to travel the world to experience it themselves.
